It all began on Wednesday night when about 40 men of the church gathered at the Kochs for the "Men's Forum." They feasted on smoked brisket, potato casserole, fresh green salad, baked beans, deviled eggs, cheesy garlic bread, and a variety of desserts, while a few of us ladies who had put the meal together visited inside. :)
Thursday evening brought our annual WPC family movie night. Since our church is located in a former movie theater (where, incidentally, I saw the movie "Star Wars" many years ago), the movie night is a fitting part of our Heritage Week. Below is a photo of the Snack Bar and staff who were happy to take our coins in exchange for candies, popcorn, and bottled water. :)
Of course there was no charge for the movie itself which was "Flywheel." The main character in this movie starts out as a dishonest used-car salesman and loser of a husband and father whose life is changed forever when he begins living for Christ. (Of course I cried, that's what I do...)
Kevin Swanson spoke at our church Friday evening and Saturday morning, but I didn't get any good photos of him, so we'll move straight to Saturday afternoon & evening when we gathered at the VanGelders for our annual chili and dessert competitions. Below is a photo of some sweet young ladies preparing a dessert for judging. Ashley Lind took the grand prize for desserts with some sort of special cheese cake; I'm sure it was delicious, but it was gone by the time I got to go through the dessert line. Bummer.
