Gratituesday - Blessings

For peace that comforts, for friends who love at all times, for a husband who knows me best (and loves me anyway), for mercy, for grace, for forgiveness. For each I am overwhelmed and grateful.

Sometimes things happen in our lives that cause us to pause, to step back momentarily, to think, to evaluate who we are. I'm thankful my God loves me enough to bring rain. I'm thankful that the trials of this life are His mercies in disguise.

I was blessed this past Friday evening to be introduced to the following song by a young lady in our church (thanks M!). It made me think. It made me cry. It made me happy. It made me thankful.

"What if the trials of this life are His mercies in disguise?"
~Laura Story

For what are you thankful today?

  3. Absolutely beautiful. You're right it made me cry, it made me happy, it made me thankful. Did she write this song? Do you know anything about it. If it's not too much trouble I would love to know more. This song is inspired.

  4. Debbie - My understanding is that Laura Story (not a young lady in my church, sorry if that was confusing) wrote the song. There was a You Tube video of Laura sharing about writing the song, but it's been removed and I don't know why. I don't typically listen to the radio, so I'm not up on CCM. Regardless, it is a beautiful song and I'm glad it shared it. :) Sorry I can't be of more help.
    Blessings back at ya! ~Lisa

  5. Oh my, what a blessing. Just beautiful. And your chocolate muffins look amazing. I've already forwarded the link to my daughter.

I'm visiting (and following) from Home is Where My Story Begins.

I hope your day is full of joy.

  6. Pamela - Thanks for stopping by! I'm so glad you enjoyed the song and hope it was an encouragement to you the same way it was to me. You'll have to let us know if you decide to give the muffins a try...my daughter loves reading muffin comments. :) Blessings, ~Lisa

  7. Was over at Rachel's blog and saw that you had a post with a song...and wondered, just wondered if it was Blessings...sure enough! Laura's husband had a brain tumor and this song was the result. (I got this info from her own web site.)

Always nice to "meet" another Christian knitter via the net...Blessings to you today!

  8. Pamela N. - Welcome to my world. :)

And thanks for the story behind the song. It continually amazes me as I walk through my Christian life how God uses the valleys to refine me. Embracing contentment as we walk through difficult days and praising God while in the midst of trials certainly does bring blessings.

Enjoyed perusing your excellent handiwork over on your blog!

    Happy to meet you, ~Lisa
