old reads, new reads, and still the shawl
{tending my yarn garden}

Still reading Beautiful Girlhood with AnnaLynn...still loving it. :)

Reading the latest issue of Mother Earth News...

So far so good on my goal of reading through the Bible this year. :)

New read alouds include Mr Pipes Comes to America  and The Scarlet Letter.

Still knitting on my garter lace triangle shawl and glad that the end is in sight. Still working on writing the patterns for my fingerless mitts and bonnet (getting closer, though!!). And still having fun crocheting granny squares with AnnaLynn, although we forgot to take pictures so don't have any to share this time.

I do have some exciting news to share... I'm going to Stitches West next weekend!! A trip I'd not be going on if it wasn't for the generosity of my very own papa and step mama who are treating me. I wasn't going to go, but my wonderful hubby told me I had to. Sweet, huh? It's going to be sooo much fun!

So what's growing in your yarn garden? What books are you reading?
Please share in the comments and join me at Ginny's & Tami's :)

  1. I look forward to seeing the highlights of your trip! The shawl is growing into a beautiful young lady and all of your reads live on our shelves and have been read by me and several of our kids over the years.

    Blessings, Debbie

  2. This shawl is gorgeous, looks like so much work but well worth it!!
The trip sounds great, enjoy it!
I'm currently finishing up one more hat that was a special request, and then I'm finally through with requested stuff that I can start crocheting my first little yarn animal, I'm quite excited to try and see how it'll turn out.
    Have a wonderful day, Lisa!

  4. Beautiful knitting. And I always devour Mother Earth News when it arrives. I'm planting onions and greens this week. Hoping to order seeds for more plantings this week, too. I love gardening so much -- this is always an exciting time of year. Kathy at http://www.needleandspade.com

  8. Dear Lisa,
I simply have to find my copy of Beautiful Girlhood! I used it with my older daughter, and it's "hiding" somewhere at present. I really want to read it to my younger girls, and then pass it down to my oldest daughter to read with her girls.
And as silly as it seems, my friend..I dreamed about you 2 nights ago. I dreamed my hubby and I went west, and met you and your hubby. Then we all sat around all day and drank coffee, while you taught me how to knit. :) It was such fun - til I woke up and realized that *sigh* I don't even own knitting needles, much less know what to do with them.
However, I console myself with the fact that we will meet one day...if not on this earth, then in glory. Then will you teach me how to knit? lol. ;)
    Much love to you! :)

    1. Well, Lisa, if you and your dh ever find yourselves in the Pacific NW, be sure to let us know! Will look forward to that knitting lesson one way or the other. And the coffee? My dh is always happy to put on his barista hat for a friend. :)

Hope you're able to locate your copy of Beautiful Girlhood; it's such a gem! So thankful to Karen A. for republishing it. Blessings!! ~Lisa

  12. Lisa,
How fun to see what you have been reading! My daughter and I also read 'Beautiful Girlhhood' when she was younger. I am working on some little booties, but I am having trouble on the second one...reading this pattern is hard for me as it has been many, many years since I'e read a pattern. Please send up a prayer that I will 'get' it ;) Beautiful photos, friend!

  13. So pretty! I'm still trying to convince daughter to try the granny square blanket. She doesn't like the fact that they are all different -- I blame it on her dad's genes...lol.

I hope you have a great time on your trip! That is an awesome gift.
