Of Easters past and present and future...
Sunshine and temps in the mid-70s arrived just in time for Easter weekend. We skipped lessons on Friday and instead scrubbed the back deck along with the front porch, we cleaned out our flower pots and planted pansies, and we even pulled the outdoor patio furniture from winter storage in the shed. We were blessed with the company of loved ones who joined us for a delicious feast on Sunday afternoon -- and yes, we did dine out on the deck. Glorious!
Today the weather isn't quite as nice...the cool days and gray skies typical of early spring in the Pacific NW have returned, but then that's the way it's supposed to be. The Lord having blessed us with just a taste of what's to come, we live in the now and the not yet. We glory in the beauty that surrounds us, in the memories of what has been, and we eagerly look forward to what will be. It amazes me how kind the Lord is to grant us remembrances of what has gone before to whet our appetites for what is to come. The earth revolves around the sun and the seasons come and go, returning year after year, and while it does, the passing of time is unstoppable.
“While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, winter and summer, and day and night shall not cease.” ~Genesis 8:22
That the growing up of children also does not cease. No matter how much this mother's heart may wish they could stay little, I rejoice at the transformation of my babes as they have grown...
2010 - what? no official Easter pic? Sigh.
2008 - again, no Easter pic?
2007 - chicken pox for Easter :)
Prior photos were all taken old-school with film, so this is as far back as I can currently go. Will need to add "scan old photos" to my to-do list...
Counting my blessings one by one and praising God for His abundant provision! What are you thankful for today, my friends? Leave a comment and then join me at Laura's for Gratituesday. :)
