busy with life...

Another week on its way to being over, another week about to begin. Been painting, knitting, gardening, baking, and trying to keep raccoons from devastating our flock of meat chickens. We'll have a new muffin recipe on Monday (it's been a while!) and a giveaway on Tuesday, so stay tuned!

A happy weekend and restful Lord's day to you all,

~Lisa

  1. Life sounds busy in your world Lisa. Those rotten raccoons, I hope you can stop them.
Your blueberry bush looks like it's going to give you a lot of berries. Today I picked a handful of ripe berries from my bush, they are so late in ripening this year.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

    1. I'm excited about our blueberries this year! We have four shrubs that are loaded with fruit. :) Strawberries are beginning to ripe and had to be covered with bird netting; I discovered several birds snacking the other morning...

  2. Hi Lisa! Thus far, we haven't lost any birds to predators...just one (a big one, of course) the day before we took them for processing; heart attack, no doubt. But the electric fence is working perfectly! Wishing you a beautiful weekend, and blessed Lord's Day tomorrow!

    1. Thanks for visiting, Lori! :) We've been predator free since last Monday night, but living in the forest, it's kinda hard to keep wildlife away from our property. I think we're resigned to the reality that the raccoons were here first. That, of course, doesn't mean we'll willingly share if we can help it. We won't process until the end of June and are shooting for seven week old birds to avoid heart attacks... Blessings! ~Lisa

  6. oy - I can relate! we lost 6 chickens to a raccoon that was eventually caught and released far, far away!

I love your chickens - they look rather exotic - what kind are they? Busy is good - ordinary busy is better lol

    as always, love your pictures

    blessings for you and yours

    1. Karen!! So good to hear from you. :) Those are Polish chickens; I should do a post... We discovered one of those two is actually a rooster! Thankfully, we've had no predator visits since last Monday night!

    1. I don't know, Hannah; it seems that life right now is busy no matter what the season! Self-employment seems to add to the craziness for sure!
