Cherry trees and other homestead news...

In between the rain showers this afternoon, my guys were able to plant a couple of cherry trees in the back yard complete with protective fencing to keep the deer out! Lord willing, we'll be planting the rest of our fruit trees (apple, pear, and plum) as well as a couple blueberry bushes and a row of raspberries next week.

In other news, we planted the first round of our lettuce, peas, and spinach today. We're looking forward to enjoying salads made with our own freshly picked greens.

And finally, a chick update: Amazing how quickly they change -- they aren't the downy yellow balls of fluff they were just under two weeks ago.

  2. Oh, don't be jealous! It'll be a few years before we're picking any fruit from them... Did you see how small they are? :) ~Lisa
