On my needles... {knitting at the coast}

So this was me last week.

If I close my eyes, I can imagine the sound of the surf and the feel of the warm sunshine... Aaaahhh!

I thoroughly enjoyed having time away from home and responsibility to sit and knit and read and enjoy my family. :)

No, I didn't finish either the scarf or the book...

Funny how pink the yarn looks in this picture; the color in the beach picture above is far truer!

...but I am getting closer.

It's time for me to face the facts, don't you think? The scarf will no way be finished in time for Jess to take with her when she leaves for Oxford, and the movie version of The Help may by out on DVD before I turn the last page.

The knitting and the reading will have to wait. Surely, I'll get in a few rows and pages here and there, but as there are precious few days of summer left, I'll be spending them creating memories with my children who are simply growing up way too fast.

Sharing at the Yarn Along. :)

Nice, Lisa! The scarf will be lovely. And what are your opinions about the book?

  2. The scarf is lovely. That book was amazing! I can't wait to see the movie. I think I'll have to go with my mom.

  3. Ohhhh loved seeing your beach pic with your anklet! [o= And how sooo very pretty your dd's scarf is becoming. I know how you feel when you have plans but then reality sets in. ( and that is okay too) Enjoy your family and enjoy the process of the book and knitting in the speed that you are able. Otherwise it takes the joy away and we don't want that do we? [o=

    Blessings and ((HUGS))

  4. What a neat pattern! I debated and debated on my latest scarf pattern and chose something fairly simple as I didn't want to overwhelm the yarn. The yarn is so pretty, silk AND sparkly beads! Your yarn is such a nice warm shade in the top photo...

The scarf looks great! I can just imagine Jess roaming the streets of London wearing it. :)

I LOVED the book The Help, and the movie was a pretty good representation of the book.

I love you my was great hearing your voice the other morning!

  8. I loved The Help! I also really enjoy seeing the beach again. It is so soothing to sit and listen to the waves.

Lisa-me again...thanks for the note on my new blog-I'll be interested to know how you like the book, and if you think you'll see the movie.

Know exactly what you mean about your kids growing up too fast. My youngest just turned 28 last week. AND is now living in CA. That's ok if you live on the west coast...but not if you live in OH!

    Wishing you blessings. Pam :)

  10. Wow! Ladies, thanks for all your kind words!

Mary - Like how I copied your beach photo? :) Thanks for your encouraging words.

Jeanne - Wish we could see you and Tim more often!! Everett is simply too far away.

    Blessings to all, ~Lisa

  11. Swanski - My family is from PA; miss it sometimes. Thanks for stopping by.

Pamela - Our oldest son is 26! Daughter #1 is moving to Oxford in less than a month. Thankfully, she'll be in town to visit for a few weeks before she and her mister catch their plane. Oh, and I am planning to see the movie...

    Blessings, ~Lisa

  12. Gorgeous scarf and a pretty colour too.
That looks like a lovely holiday spot, perfect for yarning.

  13. The scarf is very pretty! I'm reading The Help, too. I love the story (minus the occasional swear word). The movie is very good, too (not as detailed as the book, of course, but VERY good!).

    Enjoy your day!

  14. Wonderful beach photo!
Enjoy those moments - the book and knitting will wait. ;)

  15. Lisa, What an amazing view! I bet it was refreshing! Thanks for coming to visit my blog! come back again soon...I would love to learn to knit well...I've been working on the same baby blanket for 4 years already--maybe the next baby will get it! Blessings to you, Amanda

  16. Michelle - So glad to hear you're enjoying the book! I'm eager to see how it all ends...

Amanda - Don't give up on that project! Every knitter (and crocheter) I know has several on the back burner. :)

    Blessings, ~Lisa
