We always do this...

There is something about saying, "We always do this," which helps keep the years together. Time is such an elusive thing that if we keep on meaning to do something interesting, but never do it, year would follow year with no special thoughtfulness being expressed in making gifts, surprises, charming table settings, and familiar, favorite food. Tradition is a good gift intended to guard the best gifts.

~Edith Schaeffer

Our traditions include:

Opening ornament boxes and decorating the tree...

Reading the same stories every December...

Reminiscing. This is an ornament that's been around since Dan was a boy...

Mr. & Mrs. Snowman (made by J & J years ago)

Please tell me we aren't the only ones with a chicken, a pig, and a cow hanging in our Christmas tree?
(A gift from Dan when we moved to the country.)

Our beautiful Nativity.

And I always look for something new to add to our holiday collection. I found these adorable salt and pepper shakers yesterday at the thrift store for only 99 cents. :)

Isn't it fun to get out the ornaments each year? This year I had my grandsons look for their mothers' kindergarten photo on an ornament...they loved looking for it!

Love your book selection! You should tell us what it includes...

Oh Lisa...I feel the same way about the things that I have kept for over 20yrs. Our angel was the first thing we bought together as a married couple. It is truly special to J. and I.

Thank you for sharing your memories with me today.

  3. Pamela, Will do! How fun for your grandsons! Ornaments are a big deal here in our home. Each of our grown and marrieds has taken a box filled with ornaments with them as they've established their own homes. I love tradition!

    Blessings, ~Lisa :)

  4. Maria, You are so very welcome! I hope you share a few of your special things with us! Blessings! ~Lisa :)

  5. We have a barn w/a cow in it hanging on our tree...does that count? I love your ornament!

  6. A cow is a cow! Thanks for sharing, Lori. Hope you'll share some of your ornaments so we can all see them. Blessings to you, ~Lisa :)

Having traditions is a good thing, as long as they are pleasant. :)

I LOVE your Mr. and Mrs. Snowman. They are too cute! The salt and pepper shakers that you bought at the .99 Cent store are adorable as well.

Looks like your family is having fun decorating this holiday season.

Take care Dear Friend, and I apologize for not visiting your part of the Blogsphere sooner.
