While I was away...
Celebrating Christmas is always a joyful time for us as it is filled with tradition and nostalgia. Each year as we decorate our tree, as we bake, as we light candles on Sunday evenings, and even as we purchase gifts for each other, we're sweetly reminded of what our Heavenly Father has done for us through His Son, our Savior.
Nostalgia: it's a glorious thing to be able to say we always do this.
We always bake the same cookies each Christmas, reminisce while hanging ornaments on the tree, buy mini-chocolate donuts for the kids to enjoy on Christmas morning, enjoy lighting the candles of our Advent wreath as the Papa reads to us from the Scriptures, and Dan and I always exchange ornaments on Christmas Eve. There's so, so much more, but I think you get the picture. Here's a peek into our celebration.

As thankful as we are for Skype, text messages, and the US mail which keep us all connected, Christmas is just not the same without having our two eldest with us. I'm not complaining, I'm just saying...
Being that I'm such a creature of habit, you can expect more of the same from me here on the blog in 2013. I wasn't too successful at completing my 2012 goals, so I'm taking a different approach to goal setting which I hope to share here later this week.
Lord willing, I'll continue to share the fruit of working with our hands here in Dole Valley -- both in and around the homestead as well as that "fruit" which is created with yarn and hook or needles. Of course, AnnaLynn and I look forward to sharing more delicious muffin recipes as well as adding more recipes to our "homemade pantry." And I'll be doing a few giveaways as a way of saying "thanks!" to you all for hanging out with me here on the blog. :)
What might be new here is that I'm toying with the idea of hosting a weekly linky party as a way for you all to share the fruit of your hands...but we'll see. There are only so many hours in a day and my number one goal this year is to spend as many of them as possible tending the garden of my home.
And now for the winner of my Christmas "thank-you" giveaway...
Such a blessing to have so many of you enter -- thank you for taking the time during the busy Christmas season. :) Without further ado, the winner is Izzy! Congratulations! Izzy, please send me an email [firstname.lastname@example.org] with your address so I can get your prize in the mail to you!
Blessings to all and a most happy new year!
